Summer is here and so is chickenpox. Chicken pox is rampant in our country in summer. It is such a sad sight to see children and adolescents suffer from this nasty, itchy and disfiguring disease!
Should I put the AC on for my child who is suffering from chicken pox? The answer to this and all other ways in which you can alleviate her suffering on our main chicken pox page.
Prevention
What is worse is that this can be prevented by a course of two shots of the widely available chickenpox vaccine.
Who should receive the vaccine?
- All children – First shot at 15 months of age. The second any time after three months after the first shot.
- All healthy adults who have not suffered from chickenpox or shingles (Zoster) before also need to be immunized. Women who are in the child-bearing age must receive the vaccine before they plan a pregnancy. Chicken pox can cause devastating consequences to the tender, developing fetus. There could potential loss of the fetus or the risk of delivering a malformed baby!
